Post #7 Cam Jansen and the First Day of School Mystery

Im starting to think that I may not like children chapter books as much as I thought I did. Im hoping that I'm just picking out books that I'm not interested in. I remember loving going to the library during school when I was younger. So when I picked out this book I had high hopes for it to remind me why I love children books. For this blog post I read Cam Jansen and the First Day of School Mystery by David A. Adler and illustrated by Susanna Natti.

It was the first day of school and Eric and Cam couldn't have been more excited. On the bus ride to school they were stuck in traffic and they ended up having to walk to school. While walking, they saw a car accident, at this point they were very interested. They got to school and their teacher, Mrs. Benson was talking right as two police officers walked in and starting questioning the teacher and said she would have to come with them. Eric and Cam were very curious to what happened to Mrs. Benson. They went on an adventure though the school to find answers. By the end of the book, they figured out the mystery to the car accident and Mrs. Benson.
I find myself loving mystery books. This book was very short and had small chapters. It would be a great book to read the first day of school and remind students to problem solve when they face a challenge. I enjoyed this book because of the illustrations as well! The pictures drawn were so detailed but yet so simple. You could see what the characters were feeling like just through the pictures. This book would also be great for students who are transitioning into chapter books! I recommend this book if anyone is looking for a quick read!

I'm so glad I chose to read A to Z Mysteries: The Absent Author by Ron Roy as my first book in our challenge. As I sat down Friday night with my cup of coffee (no party animal here!) I  reflected back on my elementary years,  I LOVED mysteries books so I knew this would be nostalgic. The way Roy captures your attention is fantasying. Blog Post #8: The Peculiar Pumpkin Thief

While picking out books, this was one of the books I really wanted to read during Halloween time. However, it got lost in my backpack so I figured better late than never! I know they say not to judge a book by its cover, but I did with this one. It is so colorful and very eye-catching. "The Peculiar Pumpkin Thief" is by Geronimo Stilton and illustrated by Lorenzo Chiavini. First off, just by opening this book anyone would be intrigued. The illustrations are very in depth and so colorful. Not only are the pictures colorful, some of the words throughout the text are bolded and colorful. Every page is unique with different colors, designs, and pictures. While reading this books I wanted to keep reading to not only see what happens but to also see the colorful pages.
